A DOG WASHING STATION for man’s best friend. I’ve decided, it’s a necessity. I just can’t fit in the shower comfortably with my dog anymore.
We are currently in our guest house and when it’s time to bathe her, together we squeeze into the shower. It’s a great size for 1 but when you’re adding a 110 pound 2 year old Rottweiler, it’s a bit small. One of my non-negotiable ‘s for the new house is a dog washing station. The biggest decision in designing a dog washing station is whether to have steps up or design a walk in. I took into consideration the size of my dog and how senior dogs can have difficulty going up steps so, I’m going with a walk in dog washing station inspired by this one.
It’s so important to design whatever works for your personal needs and style of the room you’re adding this to. This mosaic tile I want to add to the center of the wall of the washing station to give it a more custom look.
The floor in the wash station will be either a charcoal gray slate to prevent slipping or a painted concrete. I may also add a rubber mat for my sweet pooch to stand on.
Initially, this was going into our mudroom but now I’m putting this into our upstairs laundry room. I’m going with white cabinets and a charcoal gray floor that is non-slipping, so wet paws don’t slip. It’ll be interesting to see the end result. I’m just at the designing process, it keeps changing and evolving. I created a design board showing the color scheme and the basic design of the dog shower within my laundry room. Since the laundry room will be upsairs, I’ll also be adding a paw washing station downstairs and just outside the back door. This pooch loves mud. LOL
